Abstract

The Carl Weissner Archive consists of correspondence, tapes of poetry readings, manuscripts and graphic materials by international avantgarde writers of the 1960s, and some monographs and serials related to these authors. Included are works by such authors as William Burroughs, Harold Norse, Ezra Pound, Charles Bukowski, Claude Pélieu, Mary Beach, Dan Georgakas, Donatella Manganotti, and Jan Herman, as well as Carl Weissner himself. Many of these artists were part of the Fluxus movement.

Theodore F. Welch (1933- ) Papers

Abstract

The papers of Theodore F. Welch Papers (Assistant University Librarian at Northwestern University) fill two boxes, and span the years 1967 to 1983. The bulk of the papers consist of correspondence documenting Welch's work at Northwestern and elsewhere in the United States, his strong connections with Japan and especially with Japanese libraries and librarians, his tenure working for the United Nations, and some of his personal relationships.

Oswald Werner joined the faculty of Northwestern in 1963 and remained until his retirement in 1998. His research focused on linguistics as well as cultural anthropology, particularly as they related to the Navajo. The Oswald Werner Papers fill forty-one boxes and span the years 1959 to 2007. Wilhelm Wexelsen Collection

This collection contains articles and statements collected and organized in 1946 by Wilhelm Wexelsen from Norsk Artikkeltjeneste, the Norwegian News Service which operated during World War II. Material in this collection, which also includes propaganda, originated between 1943 and 1945. The collection includes propaganda materials from the AKI, "Anti-Communism Institute," between 1944 and 1945.

Frances E. Willard (1839-1898) Journal Transcriptions

The series consists of a photocopy of approximately 2000 pages of typed transcriptions of journals kept by Frances E. Willard between 1855 and 1896 (the original hand-written journal totals over 8,000 pages). Willard kept journals continuously from the age of 16 to 31, and then from age 54 to 57. The journals are an invaluable resource for understanding the life and thought of one of the most important American women of the nineteenth century.
